At
Blacklab Hosting, you don't have to pay for extra bandwidth consumption
and we set no particular limit.
Bandwidth
is the amount of data that a website can output to visitors. The
more data your website delivers, the more bandwidth your website
uses and is measured in gigabytes a month. If you deliver 10,000
pages a day of 10 kb each, then your website will use about 3 gb
per month. We know that most websites rarely use more than 2 gb
of data transfer per month so consider 2 gb of data transfer per
month to be an acceptable amount.
Sometime
websites do go over that. At
Blacklab Hosting we are quite flexible about this and usually do
not charge for extra bandwidth unless the website is "abusing"
our service's bandwidth. By "abusing" we refer to:
- Placing
big files on the server for download such as images, games, programs,
MP3s and so on;
- Turning
websites into a storage site for other websites or turning it
into a storage for personal backups or file distribution among
other users.
If
you do consume a lot of bandwidth, then Blacklab Hosting may do
either of the following (at our discretion and/or whichever you
choose). Either
- charge
you £20 for each gigabyte of data transferred above our
acceptable consumption, or
-
ask you to advertise our service on your website (e.g."Hosted
by Blacklab Hosting") in visible areas of your website.
So
at Blacklab Hosting, you don't have to pay for extra bandwidth if
you prefer not to.
We
flexible about this and we'll do everything within our reach to
not raise your monthly payment. If you you think you need a lot
of bandwidth, let us know so that we can reach an agreement beneficial
to both you and us.
